Three Shires Head Walk

A mere 20-minute drive away, you’ll discover the Three Shires Head Walk, a picturesque hike where this unique spot marks the meeting point of three counties: Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Cheshire. Once old pack horse routes, these paths now offer a charming gateway to explore a splendor of natural beauty, complete with inviting waterfalls perfect for a refreshing dip.

Begin your journey at Clough House car park, cross the road where a tranquil trail leads you beside a babbling brook. Crossing the footbridge, take an invigorating right up the hillside, where the path becomes delightfully bumpy underfoot. Continuing along, you’ll follow the footpath as it bends to the right and will eventually guide you to the main A54 road.

Cross the road and follow signs to embark on a steep ladder stile into the open fields. Remain on the designated pathway and it eventually brings you to the enchanting Three Shires Head. Here, a quaint bridge graces the scenery, making it an idyllic spot for a paddle or picnic amidst nature’s embrace.

To return, cross the bridge and venture along the path to the left, which leads you towards a narrow road. Cross the road and take the footpath next to a charming house and venture into sprawling fields. Following the pathway, you’ll soon reach another significant crossing at the A54. Navigate directly across through the gate and head down through the fields into Wildboarclough and take the road to the right that leads you back to the car park.
